The company’s name encompasses the vision of the company: “InterfereX” is about crossing out (X) the interference in radio and wired networks. Only by minimizing the interference in the radio network can we maximize the customer experience.
InterfereX achieves this by developing cutting-edge solutions to power the next generation of wireless and wireline networks and realize the 100 times increase per decade in data rates.
The InterfereX management and engineering team consists of system engineers, software engineers, and research scientists who have deep experience in developing pragmatic and efficient solutions to maximize the performance of communication networks through signal processing and advanced techniques.
InterfereX is an award winning (iAward, ACS, IBM SmartCamp) team that has taken advanced algorithms into product solutions to bring value to our customers by solving real-world problems.
The company is currently engaged with a number of partners and customers who are benefiting from their technology. The team consists of a number of seasoned entrepreneurs and PhD-qualified engineers with a successful wireless track record.
Mark C. Reed, PhD
CEO & Founder
Mark has performed research and commercial projects on wireless systems in Europe and Australia over the last 20 years. He has led a number of world-first wireless developments, including a Satellite-UMTS system for the European Space Agency, and leading a team on designing and validating a small cell modem with uplink interference cancellation. Mark holds a PhD in communication engineering and is a leading authority on wireless small cells; he has given invited presentations on the subject at IEEE Conferences, Femtocells World Summit (UK), and to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). He has more than 70 research publications. Mark holds 9 patents and has won numerous technical awards.
COO & Director
Ian Buddery serves as COO and Director of InterfereX, bringing extensive international business experience. During his 28 years in the technology industry, he has held several senior management positions with major multinational organizations and local firms. A software engineer, he worked in real-time systems for the resources, finance and defence industries before starting his first software company in the UK in 1977.
In 1991 he founded eServ Global, which soon became SUN’s largest VAR and grew to become the world’s largest independent supplier of mobile prepaid software for the telco industry. After its first VC investment in 1998, Mr Buddery executed successful IPO’s on the ASX in 2000 and the LSE in 2004. With a focus on the telco industry, eServ Global made six acquisitions, grew to 700 people with a $180m revenue serving 85 telco operator customers across 54 countries.
Ian exited the company in 2010 after the trade sale of the core business to a major US software vendor. He is also a Charter Member TiE Sydney, a member of Commercialisation Australia’s Expert Network, and has been President of Asthma Foundation, New South Wales since 2002.
Pieter van Rooyen, PhD
Pieter has more than 20 years of experience inventing, developing and successfully commercializing technologies in industries including semiconductors, wireless, health care, life sciences, image processing, and retail automation, with a portfolio of over 110 granted patents in these areas. His passion for bringing to market innovative technologies has led to the formation and funding of a number of technology start-ups with significant return to investors. Currently he is President and CEO of Edico Genome. Prior to this he was co-founder of ecoATM (acquired in 2013 by Outerwall (NASDAQ:OUTR) for $350 mil.) and Zyray Wireless (acquired in 2004 by Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ:BRCM) for $100 mil.).
Nick is the CEO of ANU Connect Ventures, which invests in early stage disruption technologies, such as InterfereX. He has a long track record of helping to build and grow software and web companies, and has been a successful angel investor, business mentor, and through Blue Cove Ventures which he established and ran between 2007 and 2012, the CEO of a successful investment fund. Building on 16 years of experience in bringing US software companies into the Pacific, Nick turned to personal and professional investment in domestic software companies in 1998, specialising in web / mobile / cloud / SaaS and Enterprise opportunities. Prior to founding Blue Cove Ventures Nick was instrumental in developing numerous companies to successful outcomes including Zookoda (sold to Izea), Wily Technology, sold to CA Technologies (NYSE:CA) for US$375 in Jan 2006, Solemates Technology, sold to Interactive Corporation (NASDAQ: IACI) for US$24, and Allaire, now owned by Adobe Systems (NASDAQ:ADBE). Nick has an Honours Degree in Computing in Business from The University Huddersfield in the UK, has an MBA from the University of South Australia and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is the immediate past Chair of Capital Angels, was a founding member of Sydney Angels, and currently sits on the Board of Entry29, a co-working space for Canberra start-ups.
Independent Board Advisor
John is an internationally experienced private equity and venture capital investor and non-executive director. He co-founded Technology Venture Partners in 1997 and has thus been a director of a range of technology companies. He was the founding executive of the Australian Technology Group (ATG) in 1993, responsible for ICM related venture capital investments. He established Bank of America’s Asian venture capital business in Hong Kong. He was involved in corporate finance and investment banking with Bank of America based in UK and Hong Kong, as well as several years in major accounting firms in Australia and the UK. He holds an Honours degree in Law and Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Scotland). He is the former Chairman and Council Member of Australian Venture Capital Association (AVCAL) and a member of Entrepreneur’s Programme-Accelerating Commercialisation Expert Network.
